You may have already heard of Colleen Brown — especially if you have visited this blog before. In fact, if you were to check out the number of posts she’s been tagged in on HaterHigh.com, you’d come up with slightly more than a dozen previous blog entries. So, yeah, I guess you can say I’m a fan.
If you’re not (yet!), you may not know that she recently wrapped up an IndieGoGo campaign to fund a follow-up album to 2011’s DIRT. She’s been flying back and forth to LA meeting with fancy-pants producers, and the future looks especially exciting for Colleen Brown and her fans. Those who donated to her campaign have also been enjoying a sweet treat while they wait in an exclusive monthly e-mail update featuring two previously unheard recordings — some studio, some rough home demos, all very cool.
But I have something that I accidentally ended up sitting on much longer than I intended that I hope will help whet your insatiable appetites, previous awareness of Colleen Brown be damned! This past November, CBC Radio traveled to Edmonton, Alberta for a taping of his popular morning radio show, Q… with Jian Ghomeshi, and invited Colleen for a feature live performance and interview.
Breaking with convention, Colleen abstained from performing a song from her most recent album, and instead previewed to an international radio audience a fresh track, Direction, that is expected to be included on her NEXT disc.
The song generated a great deal of buzz among Jian’s listeners, and now you, too, can listen to the live performance of a great as-of-yet unreleased track wherever you go.
